Versatile rising Ghanaian Hip-Hop artist, Oniipa, has released his much awaited EP titled – ”Ashe Asi”, which is translated as ”he beginning”. The EP features his maiden single ‘Ashe Asi’ which inspired the title. The song received a lot of airplay on TV and radio and hence introduced Oniipa into mainstream music.
”Ashe Asi” EP is a compilation of songs across various genres of music and breaks down various social and personal issues and opinions that Oniipa elaborates on. The EP features a guest appearance by Hiplife artist, Choirmaster.
The EP will ”welcome” you to this journey with a song that is sampled from the legendary Osibisa with a touch of rap to tell the African story. Growing up in the streets of Odorkor influenced and ignited Oniipa’s passion for music. He takes this EP as an opportunity to take us on his musical journey
The title track, ‘Ashe Asi’ produced by Jeff Jeon (Spider64), talks about his personal experiences in trying to break into the mainstream music industry and the lack of support from friends, family and other acts in the industry.
In ‘Dear Future Wife’ Oniipa talks about expectations in relationships if people knew their future spouses. He shows us his writing skills on ‘I feel u die’ which features Efua. In this song two love birds compliment each other remarkably. He ends the project with ”we here” which talks about the journey thus far. The things we had to go through chasing our dreams and how far we have come regardless of the intense support people around us denied. God has brought us this far. The number of ”you can’t make it”, mockery and rejections has motivated us to go even further.
Other songs on the EP include: G.H.A.N.A., ECG, Odorkor Freestyle, That Odorkor Boy, Ma Dough, Monkey and Hallelujah.
The EP is available on all online streaming platforms including iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud etc.
